At 34 weeks, the due date (May 28) draws near for Baby Rittgers and we are getting both excited and more anxious to have everything ready to meet the new family member. I have been making a list of the things we still need to do as I will probably forget otherwise. I suppose the baby will come ready or not at its own time. So I do not really need to worry as I have time for a nap (which sounds good by the way).
For the most part, the nursery is ready to go with its brightly-colored ABC, elephant theme (we have to not only teach them their ABC's but also start the political process early); we have the crib, the cradle, the changing table, and the glider. Among other things, I have the diapers and diaper wipes laid out. And Tim finally put together the car seat and stroller the other day so we have something to bring baby home.
Our prenatal classes at the hospital have finished, yet we continue to read the pile of books next to the bed of things you need to know about babies. I have started the announcements among other projects that I am trying to complete in time. And at last, I finally have posted my first note on the blog (not sure if this is a sign of things to come or not).
Then there other things that we want to finish before baby comes. Preparing Maestro has been a bit of a challenge as he continues to follow me around like a shadow and just wants to be held all the time. We still have the contact paper table cloth (sticky side up) on the dining room table to teach him about jumping up on the table. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to having a new member.
Outside the garden has been cleaned up for spring with fresh new mulch and snapdragons. The daffodil bulbs are coming up and the Hyacinth is blooming. The vegetable seeds have been planted in a tiny green house waiting to sprout. Finally, the garage has been cleaned of the winter salt and mess for the summer months.
Well the list could go on of what has been crossed off and what yet needs to be done here in the Rittgers household. However, I marvel at the freshness of spring and season of new life, not only outside but the new life that has been forming the last nine months. This season of our lives will be here before you know it and somehow I think the timing will be perfect.
I am often reminded of the passage, "You know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future." God certainly has plans for this family. It is good to know that He is more faithful then the seasons.
I would like to hear from you on when you think the baby will be born.

I think baby will be here by the end of next week. I think baby's birthday will be May 5th.

I think this baby wants to grow some more - May 21st.
ReplyDeleteYea for baby blogs! The first two times I was surprised when they came early. With Isaac, I thought he would be early too then. He came late. Maybe if you don't plan on baby being here until 2 weeks past your due date, you will go early. So I will guess 5 weeks - June 4th.
ReplyDeleteThat would be Grandma Rittgers Birthday
ReplyDeleteI took a day off from work on May 22nd, so that's my guess. :)

My guess is May 15 - because that is my last YLI class day for the year.
